Celebrating 25 years of GEC through photography exhibition on Ecological Heritage of Gujarat

 

Gujarat Ecology Commission (GEC) has completed 25 years of service in the field of environment conservation. To celebrate it, GEC had announced a photography competition on Ecological Heritage of Gujarat. The competition that was announced on September 20, 2017 gathered lot of attention from photography and nature enthusiasts. In a month’s time we received 574 photographs from 200 participants depicting various facets of ecological heritage of Gujarat. The photographs were reviewed by senior wild life photographers of Gujarat, Mr. Manoj Dholakia and Mr. Saurabh Desai.

Selected 61 photographs were showcased in the exhibition inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. J.N. Singh, IAS Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat along with other distinguee guests. The felicitation ceremony was led by Dr. Ashok Kumar Saxena, IFS Member Secretary, GEC and Mr. Kuldeep Goyal, IFS PCCF & HoFF, Forest Department and Mr. Asim Srivastava, IFS Chairman, Gujarat Biodiversity Board were the Guest of Honours.

In their address to the participants and visitors, the Chief Guest and Guest of Honours shared their own experiences with camera and encouraged them to click more and share ecological heritage of Gujarat with everyone. The photographs were exhibited at Satya Art Gallery, Ahmedabad.

The winners of the competition were felicitated with a certificate and cash prizes. Winners of the competition are as follows:

First Prize : Mr. Chinmay Macwan (Rs. 15,000/-)

Second Prize : Mr. Anuj Raina (Rs. 10,000/-)

Third Prize : Mr. Manoj Sinha (Rs. 5,000/-)
Mr. Ashvin Trivedi (Rs. 5,000/-)
Mr. Dilipgiri Goswami (Rs. 5,000/-)
